Problem s start whe n Ray, wh ile drun k, orders Sea n to kil l Eric. And he does it . Things go wrong when R ay decide s to make S ean disappear destroying his min d with v iolent punishme nt and humil iation. F rom the poin t where Sean kills Eri c, we go in th e same boat with him, as he goes throug h a downward sp iral of human degrada tion, trave ling from gui lt, to conf usion and final ly to his r ebirth, in a state where humanity, morals and values are not importan t anymor e. Chris McK enna acting is very important becau se he mana ges to be likab le even when he is pa rt of gru esome acts, b oth as v ictim and/or cr iminal. He has that l ook of innocenc e that hide s a dar k side and he manages to carry the fil m. The support cast also includes K ari Wuhrer, a s Eric& #39;s wid ow who al so becom es a cent ral part of Sean's trip to hell. S he give s a fine per formance, although it's obvious that Sean is the main characte r. He is th e most deve loped of all and McKenna&a mp;#39;s pe rforman ce is up t o the challeng e. The film has very distu rbing images o f violen ce, and whil e it ma y not be as g raphic a s "K ill Bill& amp;quot; for example, the strength o f the vio lence is in th e lack of hu manity th at the char acter manifes t. He i s more th an an ant i n this worl d. He is the king.
