The crime t hat Len zi focuse s on is kidnapping, and w e centre on a character cal led &#3 9;Rambo&#39 ;. Rambo is d ragged into the war between th e two fa milies aft er his brother is killed because of i t. Rambo us es his brains a nd brawn to p it the two families against one an other, in the hope of gai ning reveng e for his br other&#3 9;s death, res cuing a young b oy that they 've kid napped, and ult imately lettin g the tw o sides destr oy one ano ther. The film ' s bigge st asset is undoubted ly Tomas Milian . Milian was put to great use by Lenzi i n almost all o f his cr ime thrill ers. The range of chara cters he has played for Le nzi is imme nse, and thi s one is eas ily one of the cooles t. The charact er is c alled Rambo, which imm ediately s prang to min d the popular Sylvester Stallone character - bu t for on ce, the Italia ns actually ha ven't stolen this n ame as Syn dicate Sadi sts was released firs t! As usua l, the film is wicked ly ente rtaining, a s we ge t to wa tch Mil ian get himself i nvolved in the usu al arra y of car ch ases, shootout s and braw ls. Lenzi has g ot him ridi ng a motorbike this time ro und, and e very scene fe aturing i t and Mili an is a real stand out! However, the film oft en feel s like it doesn 't really have a nywhere to go, and t his means that the ru nning time i s stretch ed out more th an it shoul d be. Compared to the crime f ilms of other Itali an directo rs, Syn dicate Sadist s is more than above average ; but in relati on to Lenz i crime flic ks such as Almo st Human and The Cynic, The Rat and The Fist - it doesn& amp;#39;t stand tall as one of L enzi&am p;#39;s best .
